Krumpin: $49 for Tyler Huntley, and nobody blinked
GolfNut paid like the QB room was on fire. The rest of the room submitted a zero and went back to lunch.
Week 5’s FAB board opened with a $49 bid on Tyler Huntley and closed with Haters Gonna Hate offering zero. GolfNut didn’t just win the claim; GolfNut won the room’s most dramatic silence. In a Superflex league, quarterback scarcity is real. Forty-nine dollars for a quarterback whose only listed rival bid was a goose egg is still the kind of move that makes the group chat check the waiver budget twice.
The other big swings at least had a room in them. Ball Don’t Lie paid $29 for Dohnte Meyers, with GolfNut at $6 and Ghost of Twomp at $3. That is a $23 gap to the next bid: either Ball Don’t Lie has a very specific plan or is bidding as though the auctioneer said “last chance” six times. KC Concepcion Jr. went to Haters Gonna Hate for $21; GolfNut’s $5 was the next offer. The board had competition, but not a bidding war.
Will Shipley’s $17 to King James was the closest thing to a fair fight: EzMoney offered $12, My Team Sucks! $10, and GolfNut $8. That is a real crowd. The $5 separation bought the winner the player without lighting the budget on fire. Keon Coleman went to EzMoney for $7 over My Team Sucks!’s $5; Khalil Shakir also cost $7, with only 4th and INCHES’ zero underneath. Two Buffalo receivers, one modest contest and one mostly a courtesy knock.

Week 5: the undefeated table gets a live test
GolfNut (4–0) draws Haters Gonna Hate (4–0), the cleanest headline on the slate. Yahoo’s early projection likes Haters by 24.79: 137.35 to 112.56. That is a forecast, not a result, but it puts the league’s unbeaten bragging rights on one side and a very rude spreadsheet on the other.
Ball Don’t Lie (3–1) is projected 137.56 against King James (2–2) at 115.61. Kittle Corn (1–3) has a 137.58 projection against 4th and INCHES (3–1) at 123.46; those are two teams with very different records and projections that did not receive the memo. My Team Sucks! (2–2) is favored 131.16–108.00 over BNF (0–4), which is less a preview than a chance for BNF to make the season feel less like a calendar reminder.
Dat’s It (2–2) and Ghost of Twomp (1–3) are nearly even, 119.91–118.98. DGAD (2–2) and Tony’s Terrific Team (1–3) are closer still: 124.62–124.32, a projected coin toss with extra roster anxiety. Dan’s Deepball (2–2) gets EzMoney (1–3); EzMoney holds the early projection, 114.28–102.31. Projections are preliminary and can change before kickoff. They are not points on the scoreboard, however much the league would like to start the group-chat argument early.
The call: $49 on a quarterback may look excessive until the lineup asks for a second passer. But when the only rival offer is $0, the real opponent was GolfNut’s own wallet. Week 5 will tell us whether the bid bought useful insurance or a very expensive reason to refresh the box score.
