Tuesday’s waiver run at 4:38 a.m. was a family breakfast where somebody paid for the whole restaurant.

Wheat Hill Weasels won the 49ers defense at $7. FAB Offers had Shough Me the Money at $2, Ninja Turtles at $0, The Gamble at $0. Five dollars over the next real bid for a defense. The Weasels are 1-0 and second. This is not a team in a hole. This is a team that saw the 49ers logo and decided rent was due.

Then, after the bell, Wheat Hill Weasels still had energy: Caleb Douglas off waivers as a free agent at 7:22 a.m., Denzel Boston the other way. The 4:38 claim was the statement. The 7:22 add was leftover coffee.

FAB Offers bid table
NorCal FAB Offers. Winner row in green. Losing bids under it.

Shough went shopping. The Substation brought a coupon.

Shough Me the Money, 1-0, treated the wire like a grocery list:

  • Dontayvion Wicks at $1. Awarded to Shough. The Substation was $0. Shough also had a second $1 claim marked invalid because of a previous transaction. That is the same roster bidding against itself and losing to itself. The player still landed in the same place.
  • Buccaneers D at $1. Ninja Turtles $0. Shough again.
  • Pat Bryant at $1, Chris Rodriguez Jr. to waivers. Not on FAB Offers. No invented runner-up.
  • Zach Charbonnet, listed PUP-R, at $2. Isiah Pacheco (IR) to waivers. Not on FAB Offers. Two dollars on a name with a designation that is not “healthy and obvious.” That is either a stash or a tell. The transactions list does not care which.

The Substation spent $2 on Adonai Mitchell. No drop printed on that row. Not on FAB Offers. Earlier in the week The Substation had already dumped Tyreek Hill, Xavier Worthy, and Chase McLaughlin in a Sunday-night garage sale. The Mitchell claim is the restock. Whether it is a restock or a cry is Week 2’s problem.

Ninja Turtles took Ravens D at $0, Vikings the other way. Lost the 49ers at $0 and the Bucs at $0. Commish special: show up, bid nothing, watch the Weasels and Shough take the logos home.

Lathrop Raptors took Panthers D at $0. Block Party Ray took Emmett Johnson at $0, Dylan Sampson (IR) out, then later grabbed Carson Wentz as a free agent and dumped Geno Smith. Ray did not spend FAB on Wentz. Ray spent a click. In this league that is still a personality.

Week 2, six games, nobody is a tourist

Head-to-head. Always. Yahoo’s numbers below are projections. Games have not started.

Ninja Turtles (0-1, 8th) vs Sunday Best Phong (1-0, 3rd). 127.88 vs 139.85. Phong already has the W from Week 1. Ninja Turtles have a Ravens D they paid nothing for. Yahoo likes Phong. The commish table does not get a sympathy projection.

Baldy (0-1, 11th) vs Lathrop Raptors (0-1, 10th). 132.69 vs 115.09. Two 0-1 clubs. Yahoo has Baldy up a chunk. Raptors just added Panthers D for a dollar that was actually zero. Somebody in this game leaves 0-2. It will not be subtle.

Byrobowl || (1-0, 1st) vs RedPanda (0-1, 12th). 140.91 vs 127.33. Byrobowl is the 1st-place name on the board. RedPanda is 12th. Yahoo already wrote the sentence. RedPanda did not appear on this morning’s FAB Offers sheet, which is either zen or a nap.

Shough Me the Money (1-0, 5th) vs The Substation (1-0, 4th). 139.06 vs 137.54. Two 1-0 clubs, two points of projection, and the two most active shopping carts on the wire. Shough has Wicks and two defenses. Substation has Mitchell and a Sunday-night dump pile. This is the game that will decide whether the grocery list was a plan.

The Gamble (0-1, 9th) vs Block Party Ray (1-0, 6th). 139.16 vs 119.77. Yahoo has The Gamble as the favorite from the 0-1 side. Ray is 1-0 with the smaller number and a free-agent Wentz. If Ray wins this, the projection was a rumor. If Gamble wins it, the 0-1 record starts looking like a scheduling accident.

Wheat Hill Weasels (1-0, 2nd) vs Scrublys Scrapyard (0-1, 7th). 141.88 vs 152.85. Father and son, same week, same table. Yahoo likes the son’s roster by eleven points. The dad just paid $7 for the 49ers. If Scrublys covers that projection, the $7 becomes a story the son gets to tell. If the Weasels win anyway, the building was worth the rent.

Call

The Weasels-over-Shough gap on the 49ers is the screenshot. $7 versus $2 is how a 1-0 team announces it has FAB it is willing to light. Secondary call: Shough’s invalid second claim on Wicks is the family-table spill. The player still arrived. The extra bid is the napkin with gravy on it.
