# NorCal-Aussie: Coleman went for $19; the defenses stayed sensible

**Baldy had one real bidder to beat on Keon Coleman. Elsewhere, a modest Shipley contest and two bargain defenses kept the table civilized.**

NorCal’s Week 5 waiver room had one headline number: $19 for Keon Coleman by Baldy. Lathrop Raptors offered $1\. That is a decisive win, though not much of a bidding duel; the spreadsheet says Baldy wanted Coleman a lot more than the one other manager did. Whether that is savvy conviction or an early-season splurge is for the next box score to judge.

Will Shipley drew the most actual company. Ninja Turtles won him for $5 over $3 offers from Block Party Ray and Tuten My Own Horn, with RedPanda at $0\. That is a clean little contest, and five dollars bought the winner a useful option without turning Wednesday into a family-budget meeting. The Bengals defense went to Block Party Ray for $2, against zero-dollar offers from Shough Me the Money and Tuten My Own Horn. Wheat Hill Weasels also paid $2 for Jacksonville’s defense, with Shough at $0\. Both defenses had a price, but nobody started throwing twenties at a logo.

## Six matchups, one undefeated collision

Byrobowl || brings a 4–0 record into Sunday Best Phong’s 2–2 table. The early projection is the widest gap on the board: 142.94 to 113.63 for Byrobowl. That is a forecast, not a verdict, but it gives Phong the week’s loudest chance to make the spreadsheet eat its vegetables.

Shough Me the Money is also 4–0 and gets Lathrop Raptors (2–2) in a much tighter projected game, 128.31–131.62\. Cooking Rice With Bryce (2–2) has the early edge over Baldy (0–4), 142.36–132.39\. Ninja Turtles (1–3) is projected 138.24 against True Quarterback (2–2) at 119.26; the standings and the forecast are politely disagreeing about who should feel comfortable.

RedPanda (1–3) and Tuten My Own Horn (2–2) are separated by only 3.52 projected points, 128.97–132.49\. Block Party Ray (2–2) has a tougher table assignment: Wheat Hill Weasels (2–2) is forecast at 148.06 against 112.81\. All six are head-to-head games; every projection is preliminary, and empty slots or late lineup changes can move the numbers.

**The call:** Coleman’s $19 is the week’s biggest statement. The next bid was $1, so the margin is not proof of a market; it is proof Baldy made a choice. Shipley’s $5, meanwhile, came with real competition and a much gentler receipt. One is the marquee claim, the other may be the tidier piece of roster business.
